Vom 21. bis 24. September haben rund 15 Claude Community Ambassadors aus ganz Europa ein ganzes Gebäude in Barcelona bespielt, das Claude Community House. Aus München war ich dabei, mit drei Sessions. Mehr als 50 Veranstaltungen in vier Tagen. Hier steht, was davon nach München kommt, und was wir lieber nicht übernehmen. Am Montag geht es in München weiter, die Eckdaten stehen gleich darunter.

Mehr als Talks

Unsere Meetups in München sind bisher Lightning Talks plus Networking. Barcelona hat gezeigt, was daneben noch geht.

Claude & Coffee: kleine Tische, keine Bühne, Leute zeigen, woran sie gerade bauen. Die erste Runde war ausgebucht, deshalb gab es am zweiten Tag eine zweite.

Claude Conversation: zehn Tische mit je fünf Personen, an jedem Tisch moderiert ein Ambassador, alle arbeiten an derselben Frage.

Clinics: Man bringt den Workflow mit, der wirklich hakt, und geht mit einer Lösung oder mit dem Grund, warum es so nicht geht.

Build Day: einen ganzen Tag lang bauen, statt zuzuhören.

Impact Lab: Teams bauen an einem Tag Prototypen für echte Probleme der Stadt. Am Donnerstag war La Mercè, ein Feiertag in Barcelona, und trotzdem kamen rund 120 Leute. Ein ähnliches Tagesformat haben Michael Whelehan und ich im Juni intern mit der IT der Stadt München ausprobiert.

Nicht nur Code

Neben Sessions über Agenten und Claude Code gab es eine Häkelrunde, die eine Claude-Krabbe nach einem 3D-Modell gehäkelt hat, einen Stickworkshop und einen Hackathon, bei dem man durch die Stadt läuft, während Sprachagenten bauen.

Das klingt nach Nebenprogramm. Genau diese Tische tauchen in den Rückblicken aber immer wieder auf, weil dort Leute saßen, die sich selbst nicht technisch nennen und trotzdem gebaut haben.

Was nicht lief

Am Montagmorgen fiel das WLAN aus, genau als die ersten Leute mit Claude bauen wollten. Handys wurden zu Hotspots. Am Mittwoch zog der Build Day mitten am Tag in ein Nachbargebäude um, und die Teams haben einfach weitergebaut.

From 21 to 24 September, around 15 Claude Community Ambassadors from across Europe took over an entire building in Barcelona, the Claude Community House. I was there from Munich with three sessions. More than 50 sessions in four days. Here is what comes to Munich, and what we would rather not copy. On Monday we continue in Munich; the details are right below.

More than talks

Our Munich meetups have so far been lightning talks plus networking. Barcelona showed what else works.

Claude & Coffee: small tables, no stage, people show what they are building. The first round sold out, so a second one was added the next day.

Claude Conversation: ten tables of five, an ambassador facilitating each, everyone working on the same question.

Clinics: bring the workflow that is actually broken, leave with a fix or with the reason it cannot work that way.

Build Day: a full day of building instead of listening.

Impact Lab: teams build prototypes for real problems in their city in one day. Thursday was La Mercè, a public holiday in Barcelona, and around 120 people came anyway. In June, Michael Whelehan and I tried a similar one-day format internally with the City of Munich's IT department.

Not only code

Next to sessions on agents and Claude Code there was a crochet table making a Claude crab from a 3D model, an embroidery workshop, and a hackathon where you run through the city while voice agents build.

It sounds like a side programme. Yet these tables keep coming up in the write-ups, because they brought in people who do not call themselves technical and built anyway.

What did not work

On Monday morning the WiFi went down, just as the first people sat down to build. Phones became hotspots. On Wednesday the Build Day moved to a neighbouring building mid-build, and the teams simply kept going.
